Fresno Pacific second baseman
Andrew Douglas has been named second team All-Great Lakes after a summer playing with Athletes in Action’s Xenia Scouts of the wood-bat Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League.
Douglas, who hit .352 as a junior with FPU, led the Scouts in each of the triple-crown categories. He finished the summer with a .347 batting average, three home runs and 23 RBI. After playing in the league’s all-star game in July, he went on to be the only player from his team to earn All-League honors.
The league has produced numerous professional players and uses wooden bats to give Major League scouts a better chance to assess talent. Douglas will be a senior for the Sunbirds this spring and looks to be one of the team’s top contributors.
