The Sunbirds begin the 2010 season this afternoon with a 1:30 pm match against Montana Western. The Bulldogs are picked to finish eighth in the Frontier Conference and struggled to a 4-20 record in 2009.
The two teams last met in 2003, with FPU coming out on top 3-1.
The Sunbirds then play Oregon Tech at 5:30, a team they faced in this same tournament last season. In the 2009 matchup, the Sunbirds made quick work of the Owls 25-8, 25-16 and 25-15.
Oregon Tech went 7-19 last season, including 6-12 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference where they are picked to finish sixth.
FPU will play two more games on Saturday to complete the tournament, as they take on Embry-Riddle (FL) at 3:30 pm and #13 Southern Oregon, the host school, at 7:30.
