STOCKTON, Calif. - Fresno Pacific (6-24) fought hard against another ranked opponent as they took on University of Pacific, but fell for the second time to the Tigers this season. The Sunbirds scored six more goals than last time, but still fell 8-16.
The Sunbirds actually led after the first quarter 1-0, and held the Tigers to only a two-goal lead into halftime. In their first meeting, the Sunbirds were outscored 14-2 in the game, while the Sunbirds scored three goals in the first half alone in their second meeting.
Brittney Guerrero and
Nicolette Haley led the Sunbirds with two goals apiece while
Marissa Nunes,
Borbala Toth,
Katie Rayner each had one goal apiece.
Dani Mortimer had seven saves and three steals for the Sunbirds in the goalie cage.
“UOP’s experience showed in the third quarter, but our girls rallied back to score four goals in the fourth quarter,” Coach Bryan Suhovy explained. “I was happy with how the women played today, continuing to show their improvement this season.”
The Sunbirds will get ready for Fresno State on Wednesday, April 7 for their senior night where they will be recognizing two seniors. The game will begin at 7 p.m.
