RESULTS AFTER DAYS 1 & 2
JOHNSON CITY, TN. - The Fresno Pacific men’s and women’s track and field teams had a great start at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in Johnson City, Tennessee.
Amanda Straw broke a school record in the pentathlon with a score of 3464 which placed her 4th in the nation and made her an All-American in the process. Her high jump mark of 5’6 ½ within the pentathlon helped her score significantly.
The women’s 4x400 team also broke a school record with a time of 3:56.19 indoor which is the equivalent of a 3:54.19 outdoor. The time placed the women’s team in 7th place.
Wes Wells also had a solid performance, jumping 6’10 in the high jump placing him in 7th overall.
Despite a nasty fall in the 60 meter hurdles, Ethan DeJongh came back and jumped well in the long jump. Although scarred and bloodied from the hurdles fall, Dejongh competed and finished 9th overall in a very strong field with a jump of 23’3 ¾ “.
Action on Saturday is headlined by DeJongh and Eugene Vollmer in the men’s triple jump, Straw in the women’s high jump, and Milika Tuivanuavou in the shot put. All have an opportunity to be All-Americans on the final day of competition.
