FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (16-2, 9-2 GSAC) returned home to rematch The Master’s College (11-11, 5-7 GSAC) in another doubleheader after splitting in Santa Clarita. The Sunbirds defeated The Master’s in both games, outscoring them 25-7 on the day with over 30 hits. The Sunbirds won 9-2 in the first game and 16-5 in the second.
Michael Rivera led the Sunbirds with five RBIs going five-for-eight on the day. Rivera’s big game was game-two with four RBIs with a two-run homerun in the first and a two-run single later in the game.
Sean Cunningham and
Kelyn Schellenberg both received wins for the Sunbirds. Cunningham pitched eight innings allowing five hits with only one earned run. Schellenberg came into the second game to pitch 1.1 innings allowing one hit and no runs.
Michael Jimenez and Rivera came in after Schellenberg and also held The Master’s scoreless to finish the seven-inning game.
The Sunbirds came back strong against The Master’s after splitting their first doubleheader to move to 3-1 on the season against The Master’s.
The Sunbirds continue with conference play on Wednesday, March 17 against California Baptist in Fresno. The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
