FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific came out on fire on Saturday after their Friday meet was moved back a day. The Sunbirds opened their meet against Biola with 14 straight victories, taking 19 of the first 20 events, and finishing with 22 victories for the day. Both men and women squads defeated Biola to close out their regular season 161-68 and 141-124, respectively.
On the men’s side,
Dan Crosby and
Gerald Gee led the way winning all of their individual events. Crosby took both 1-meter and 3-meter diving while Gee won the 50 backstroke (24.58), 100 freestyle (48.58) and the 50 butterfly (24.32).
For the women,
Cheyenne Coffman and
Stacy Carter each finished the day flawless as well with two and three victories, respectively. Coffman took the 200 freestyle (1:58.05) and the 100 freestyle (54.00). Carter finished first in the 200 butterfly (2:14.41), 200 backstroke (2:12.25) and the 200 individual medley (2:12.23).
“This was a fun meet where a lot of our swimmers got to do some different things,” commented Head Coach Peter Richardson. “We really wanted to use this meet to tune us up before we enter our championship season.”
The Sunbirds will begin preparing for their conference meet in three weeks and then NAIA Nationals two weeks after, beginning on March 3.
Coach Richardson concluded, “We have some things to work on before Nationals, but I can already tell it should be an exciting meet.”
The PCSC Conference Championships will be held in Long Beach on Wednesday, February 10 through Saturday, February 13.
