FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (23-0, 12-0 GSAC) defeats their second opponent in two days. After beating Point Loma on Friday, the Sunbirds returned to the court to take down San Diego Christian (10-14, 1-11 GSAC) 25-15, 25-14, 25-20 in an afternoon match.
Lauren Albertson had a big game over San Diego leading the Sunbirds with nine kills and also had two blocks. Lisa Shilling and Michelle Johnson both followed Albertson with eight kills apiece. Shilling led the Sunbirds with four blocks while Lindsay Foglio came up big with three blocks for the Subirds.
The Sunbirds hit an impressive .353 hitting percentage and held San Diego to .099.
Emily Adachi had 25 assists and Mariah Mandelbaum led with 12 digs.
Coach Dennis Janzen commented, “It’s great to win back-to-back games at home and get everyone in the game. I was happy with how everyone hit in both game.” The Sunbirds only had 8 and 12 errors against Point Loma and San Diego, respectively, and the lowest hitting percentage was .242 for the weekend.
The Sunbirds will head to Biola on Tuesday, October 20 to take on the Eagles for their second meeting of the season. In their first meeting the Sunbirds won 3-1, and will look to repeat their victory on the road. The first set will begin at 7 p.m.
